I came across this very unhappy looking and very hungry Robin on the path. It hopped on to my boot and looked sorrily up at me so i did my good deed for the day and trod on it. Only joking, i cleared the thick layer of snow and dug up the soil with my wellies and produced many worms. It became very cocky in the end, sitting on my head and telescope. If God did exist then i hope he noticed this act of kindness but he doesn't so he didn't.
A sudden encounter with a Fox carrying a lamb which had died nearby. You just never know when to press the shutter at an approaching Fox, wait to late and you get an arse shot or to early and you get one distant shot.
A magical first 30 minutes of daylight produced a Muntjac with fawn, 2 Badgers, 2 Otters, Barn Owl and a Red Kite all from the same spot. The Otters were catching small Roach and Perch along the edge of the reed bed and also spent a lot of time playing. They were active until 08.45 and then reappeared again at 16.10 until dark. A Bittern roosted in the reeds above them as they played at 17.00.
08.00, sitting watching the Otters when i heard a lot of noise on the path right outside the hide. Suddenly two massive Badgers shot past the hide obviously in a rush to get back to the sett as it was already light. A few minutes later this one came back past the hide but there just wasn't enough shutter speed to freeze the tank.
07.30 and this Muntjac and her tiny fawn were feeding on the path. As they slowly headed my way i quietly lent against the gate post, held my breath and watched as they both calmly walked past me 2m away. Virtually no shutter speed hence the blur.
