Whilst watching the Calandra Larks near the beach one evening a juv Osprey arrived and began fishing the fish filled river on the beach. It hit the water 7 times before eventually catching a fish. As it flew past me i noticed a black ring on the right leg and a huge German type metal ring on the left. I followed it inland for about a mile and located it sitting on a post in a cow/horse field, eating the fish. A strong breeze, distance and failing light made it difficult to read the ring but i got enough on it to find that it had been ringed in NE Germany in a pylon nest in July. The last 90 minutes of today was migration at its very best.
