Steppe Eagle

Juvenile

A juvenile almost lacking the white underwing band.

A juvenile completely lacking the white underwing band.

Juvenile showing the strong neck/head and bill.

Immatures

Adults

Due to the lack of reflecting light on to the eagles underwings (unlike sandy Oman) many birds appear all dark. The dark tip to P1 in the left wing is the only plumage feature visible. Batumi is a great place to learn the shapes of large eagles.

Subadult

Adult type. This was a very large and broad winged Steppe Eagle. I don't find adult Lesser Spotted Eagles a confusion species with Steppe Eagle although this bird was huge.
